PSN PlayStation Network
Sony wants to make things right after the DDoS attack that left its PlayStation Network (PSN) crippled and its users unable to play or watch content online. Anyone who plays on PSN will recieve a 10-percent discount code for whatever they want to buy from the PlayStation Store, and PlayStation Plus members will get a 5-day extension on their subscription. The discount voucher can only be used once, but there’s no limit to the amount of items you can buy. Sony will announce the code at a later time in January. Meanwhile, PlayStation Plus members who had active memberships or…

Polaroid, the vintage camera brand that has fallen on hard times, is currently engaged in a multi-prong strategy to resurrect its good name and refresh its product line for the 21st century. One such effort launches today with the release of Polaroid Blipfoto, a pairing with and relaunch of the popular British online one-photo-per-day personal journal. Polaroid Blipfoto is now available across all mobile devices, with its free apps for Android and iPhone, and can also be accessed via the Web. A host of changes accompany this re-launch and refresh, including a complete overhaul of Blipfoto’s design, updates to its mobile apps and a…

Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus promised its own forked version of Android after Cyanogen did an exclusive deal with Micromax in India. Now it’s delivered on that promise with the alpha version of its new ROM. The new Android Lollipop-based fork is currently nameless – OnePlus is running a contest among its forum members to find a suitable monicker – but the alpha build is available to grab now, at your own risk. While OnePlus needs to develop its own fork of Android primarily because of the clash with Micromax in India – which led to a sales ban for a time…

The Indian government’s block of websites alleged to have hosted terrorist content has been lifted for gist.github, Vimeo, Dailymotion and Weebly – but 28 sites remain inaccessible thanks to the order, according to ZDNet. The four sites now given a reprieve were part of an original list of 32 that included Pastebin and the Internet Archive. India’s Ministry of Communication and Information Technology issued a statement saying the block has been lifted for the four sites. Insane!
