Bitcoin‘s hash rate is skyrocketing, setting a new all-time-high and flying in the face of Facebook’s ambitious Libra cryptocurrency — a remarkably healthy sign for the world’s most popular blockchain. Bitcoin‘s “hash rate” measures the total processing power of the network at any one time. As more miners join the network, the hash rate increases. A strong hash rate is indicative of a secure blockchain, as hypothetical bad actors would need to acquire more resources to pull of a “51-percent attack.” When hackers stole $40 million worth of cryptocurrency from major exchange Binance earlier this year, many speculated they took Bitcoin specifically to avoid…

We’ve seen cryptocurrency hungry hackers hiding mining malware in Adobe Flash updates, and even in legitimate Windows updates, but now hackers are hiding it in cracked audio production software. Hackers have been distributing it since August 2018, but in the past month has begun to surface in pirated versions of VST (Visual Studio Technology). Indeed, hiding malware in pirated software is nothing new. One always dances with the devil when downloading bootleg programs, but LoudMiner is unique in that it’s cross-platform, affecting both MacOS and Windows users.…

The European Space Agency (ESA) announced yesterday that it’s planning to make a ‘comet interceptor’ probe within the next eight years. The probe aims to capture details of a comet not seen before, when it enters our solar system. The comet interceptor will consist of three spacecrafts: one main unit and two smaller units. All three speacecrafts will separate weeks before approaching the comet and capture different data about the object, object, like the make-up of its nucleus, gas, dust, and plasma environment. Scientists will use this data to create a 3D model of the celestial body, and use it to study…

With less than a month to go until pornographic sites are forced to implement their own age-checking software for UK users, the government has delayed the rollout for the third time running in over a year, says Sky News. At the end of 2017, parliament passed the Digital Economy Act, which detailed plans for age-verification on online porn sites. It was initially due to be introduced in March 2018, months after the law was first passed –  but it was then delayed until July 15 2019, and then again today. The law would see sites like PornHub introduce an 18+…
