Facebook
If you’ve wondered what will happen to your digital presence after your die, Facebook now has answers. The social network will soon allow you to nominate someone to manage your profile when you’re gone. Your Legacy Contact will be able to add a pinned post with a final message or notification about a memorial service, update your profile picture, and download your shared posts. You’ll be able to designate one Legacy Contact in the Settings menu, under Security. For profiles without a legacy contact, verified family members of the deceased users can request that Facebook memorializes the account. That adds…

The UK’s official album charts will finally begin to reflect plays on streaming music services like Spotify and Deezer from the start of next month. The Official Singles Streaming Chart was introduced in 2012. As of February 23, online album streams will be counted. The first Official Album Chart to incorporate the figures will then be published by OfficialCharts.com on March 1. Data will be collected from plays via Spotify, Deezer, Napster, Google Play, o2 Tracks, Rara, Rdio and Xbox Music. It’s certainly a long overdue move for a company that touts itself as the official place to take the pulse of the UK’s…

Google Japan’s 300 strong Android choir is oddly moving, or maybe just odd

To illustrate a point about Android “being together not the same“, Google Japan has strung together 300 smartphones and tablets featuring 300 different Androidify characters  singing. The character’s rendition of the hymn ‘Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee’ swings from oddly moving to just plain odd. If you happen to be in Tokyo between today and Sunday, you can see the Android Chorus perform in person at the Omotesando Hills shopping complex. ➤ Japan’s singing Androids [Google Japan]

Music streaming service Rdio is joining hands with AEG’s event ticketing business AXS to let users in the US tune into music from their favorite live artists when they buy passes to a show. In addition, users will be notified when artists they’ve seen live release new music on Rdio’s platform. They’ll also enjoy personalized content tailored according to their concert history. AXS will allow listeners to extend their Rdio Unlimited…

Codecast is a browser-based code editor that’s perfect for creating HTML and CSS tutorials

We recently talked about how watching people code could be the next big thing in online video. Developer Karim Amrani believes in the trend and has built a simple tool to make it easy for coders to create tutorials in a single browser window. Codecast lets you code HTML and CSS and view the output side-by-side, negating the need to switch between your code editor of choice and your browser window. Of course, you’ll still need a tool to record your screencasts. Codecast is free and you don’t have to register to use it. ➤ Codecast
