This research is courtesy of Sander Duivestein, professional speaker and trendwatcher at VINT, the International Research Institute of Sogeti Last weekend JPMorgan Chase & Co., the largest bank in the United States, published a job opportunity for an associate at its New York branch. One of the requirements was an, “opinion on bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.” The bank has since deleted the remark, but the Wall Street Journal managed to write about it before JPMorgan could delete it. The cover-up marks a radical change in how banks now see the enfant terrible of currencies. JPMorgan’s CEO Jamie Dimon dismissed Bitcoin as…

Body Labs, a platform for creating and customizing 3D human body models, today launched the beta of BodyKit, a collection of APIs and embeddable components for integrating the human body into apps and tools. BodyKit, a toolset designed for early-stage prototyping, lightweight applications and even large-scale platforms, lets you create, visualize, pose, measure, analyze, animate and compare 3D body models for product customization and experiences. waze_android_3
To contribute to the search for missing children, Waze today announced that it will integrate AMBER alerts into the app. The alerts will appear with the name and photo of the missing child, along with information about where he or she was last seen. Users can click on the notification to learn more about the case. Its partnership with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children means Waze will scan AMBER alerts every 10 minutes and display the notification in relevant geographical locations. Unlike SMS-based AMBER alert notifications, Waze will only display the alerts if the vehicle is stopped for more than 10…

code01git
Code hosting and collaboration platform for software developers GitLab has announced its acquisition of Gitorious, the first Git repository management system, launched back in 2007. The financial terms of the deal are not disclosed except that it was part cash and part based on an earn-out of transitioning current Gitorious paying clients to GitLab. The Gitorious platform will be shut down on June 1, 2015, GitLab’s founder Sytse Sijbrandij told TNW. By that date, all customers will be able to easily migrate their projects to GitLab. Both GitLab and Gitorious are open-source code collaboration platforms based on Git repository management…

One of the biggest criticisms of the Apple Watch, even before its officially launched, is the limited number of sensors built into the device. That’s why I suspect there’ll be some sore heads in Cupertino today after Pebble announced its plan for smartstraps. The connection can send and receive power and data to the device which opens the way for smartstraps. They’ll be able to replace the normal watch…
