The NFL has announced that it will air a football game this upcoming season only via the internet and not on television as it has always done, reports The Wall Street Journal. When the Jacksonville Jaguars square off against the Buffalo Bills in Week 7 in London, the game will air only via the Web at 9:30 a.m. eastern time. The rights to its digital distribution are yet to be sold, but it’s likely that one of the major players in Web video, like YouTube or Facebook, will snap it up. It’s been reported a few times now that Facebook plans to host third-party content on its site, but today The New York Times has shared that a handful of publications are in discussions to begin the program very soon. Twitter
Twitter today released an update to its iOS app that delivered a new feature for some verified users called ‘Quality filter.’ Quality filter allows verified users to hide tweets in notifications containing threats, offensive or abusive language, duplicate content or that are sent from suspicious accounts. The feature appears to be still rolling out. Spotted by Anil Dash, co-founder at ThinkUp, the new option is available under the notifications tab and allows verified users to hide offending tweets. It’s not clear if it’s going to roll out to the wider Twitter service in the future, but we certainly hope it does. Previously, verified users…

reddit
Reddit can be a goldmine of memes and grassroots news, so the platform is today making it easier to share comments on on other sites with embeddable comments. Rather than copy, pasting and formatting text, you can now embed a small window into your blog or website to link towards comments. To generate the necessary code simply click on a comment’s permalink page, then select ‘embed’ to generate the code you need to copy. You also have the option to include parent comments. Reddit says the embeds will display any edits to the original posts however, so if you want…
