Facebook has quietly announced it’s retiring it’s old embeddable Like Box on June 23. The Like Box is variant of the embeddable Like Button that allows you to Like a page from other sites. The embed would also show off some of the other people who liked a given Page. The leaves fall to the ground and become compost. And the forest uses every last ounce of the compost and puts it back into its ecosystem. We have the exact same idea for Buffer’s organizational design as we move towards a self-managing company. Without any processes, save four essential ones, there is little to no occurrence of waste. As an example, we recently completed our fifth Buffer retreat in Sydney, Australia, and we changed the…

This post originally appeared on the Crew blog. Despite spending the last half decade writing for a living, I still have a serious issue with getting down to the ugly, dirty business of putting words on paper. I sit and stare at the blank page while every blink of the cursor reminds me that time is definitely not on my side and that I need to just get to it. Despite all of the lessons you can read online about how to best put together a blog post or any other piece of writing, the core issue remains: how do you just get to…

Vitaliy Rizhkov is the founder of Finic, which helps turn your memories into art. He is running the startup with 100 percent transparency sharing every little detail such as all financials, salaries, hiring, firing, successes and failures on his blog StartupLabs. This post first appeared in Russian on SiliconRus. I started with nothing. I had absolutely no experience with online business. All I knew was that there were a lot of people making good money through online businesses. I wanted to do the same. I had nobody I could ask for advice. When the 2008 financial crisis hit Canada I was involved in building…
