With 300 hours of video uploaded to YouTube every minute, there’s a lot of videos on the site that are never watched or given the love they deserve. This interesting little site, PetitTube, helps you find unloved YouTube videos and give them a view. When I tested it out, I got a wide-ranging selection, from a car ad to how to learn JavaScript. Every time you reload the page, you’ll see a new random video that hasn’t ever been watched. You can vote for whether it deserved to go unnoticed or not at the bottom of the page. The idea is similar…

Amazon
In an unwelcome sign of the times, Amazon has put up the minimum spend required to qualify for free delivery on UK orders. As Engadget spotted, the minimum spend to qualify for free delivery will be £20, up from £10 previously. The new rate starts at 6pm BST this evening. If you’re a frequent Amazon shopper, or use its Prime streaming services, you probably already have an £80 per year subscription that covers you for free delivery. But if you’re not, this price hike looks to be the sort of incentive Amazon might use to get you to upgrade. I can’t help but…

Popcorn time
Illegal streaming service Popcorn Time has been the bête noire of the movie studios every since it emerged last year. Now the UK’s High Court has ruled that the country’s five biggest broadband providers must block five websites that host the app download. It’s a hollow victory for the copyright holders. The order means Sky, BT, EE, TalkTalk and VirginMedia will have to prevent their customers from viewing those pages, but others will spring up almost instantly. Meanwhile, the Popcorn Time service itself – which recently made the leap to non-jailbroken iOS devices – will carry on regardless, thanks to its…

Coinbase, a bitcoin wallet and exchange service, has announced that people based in the UK can get access to its platforms from today. While it already launched its digital wallet service in the US in 2013 and introduced the Coinbase Exchange in January this year, the UK has been sorely left out of the company’s plans until now. However, that’s now changed and users can trade bitcoin via the exchange or buy and sell via the Coinbase Wallet. To make things easier for users, Coinbase has also added BTC/GBP and BTC/EUR currency pairs for UK users. While bitcoin isn’t the…

Facebook threatens Europe with crappy features if regulators don’t back off

facebook_like
Facebook users in Europe could end up waiting longer for new features or even miss out on them entirely if privacy regulators keep putting pressure on the social network. That’s the explicit threat in an opinion piece from the company’s European Vice President of Public Policy Richard Allen. Writing in the Financial Times today, he says: For internet companies…national regulation would pose serious obstacles. Facebook’s costs would increase, and people in Europe would notice new features arriving more slowly, or not at all. The op-ed is the latest move in Facebook’s high profile campaign against attempts by EU regulators to force it to submit…
