Sorry Android M, the Galaxy S6 Active won’t have a fingerprint sensor

Samsung_2014
Though everyone expected Samsung to parlay its Galaxy S6 flagship into an “Active” handset at some point, we weren’t quite sure what we’d get. Via a leaked user manual for the handset, we now know exactly what the Galaxy S6 Active is all about. Under the screen, not much has changed — the Galaxy S6 Active has all the same internal components as its predecessor. The S6 Active even has a heart-rate monitor. As you can see in the picture above, The Galaxy S6 Active has some hardware buttons for home, back and recent apps which replace static software keys. It’s…

In some ways, the world of sex toys was ahead of the ‘wearables’ trend from the beginning – strap-ons and cock rings have been lurking in bedside drawers a lot longer than Fitbits and Apple Watches have been charging on the night stand. But there’s something very unsettling about bringing the ‘quantified self’ trend to our sex lives. Yet, as Engadget reports, that’s exactly what the makers of Lovely, a ‘smart’ cock ring want to do: Simply slide your penis into the hardware, get banging away and, when you’re done, a mobile app will tell you your score. Statistics that are…

Tweetbot 2 for Mac is my new favorite Twitter client

tweetbot
Tweetbot, one of the most popular third-party Twitter apps, has today released a major update for its Mac app, bringing a new design. Tapbots’ design chops are unmatched and the company has delivered an update that looks as great as Tweetbot for iOS; the new design fits beautifully on Yosemite. With Tweetbot 2, we finally have a native Twitter client that isn’t awful to use. Twitter’s official app hasn’t been updated for months and still doesn’t support new features on the social network like GIFs, embedded video or group DMs. Tweetbot 2, however, supports many of Twitter’s new features. You can upload animated GIFs and video, attach…

Meet Charlie: The virtual PA that’s a secret weapon for Twitter, Hootsuite and Salesforce

The great butlers of fiction have been well mined by tech companies in search of a name: P.G. Wodehouse’s Jeeves was co-opted for that once popular search engine; Alfred is doing double duty as Batman’s trusty man servant and a beloved Mac productivity app. Where did that leave a Chicago-based startup with a virtual assistant in need of a name? Geoffrey from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air was still up for grabs, but spellings variations could provoke SEO suffering. Its first choice – Unclutter It (complete with a .it domain) – is now so embarrassing that I practically have…

Dropbox for Business introduces tiered admin controls

Dropbox is reigning in on security for enterprise and IT administrators with a series of new of new tools for its Business products. First up, Dropbox is introducing tiered admin powers, so higher-ups can help delegate powers to other team members only as needed. Team admins are the highest level, and they can set overall security and sharing permissions, create new admins or manage members. User management admins can add or remove team members and edit groups, but they can not add new admins. Support admins, meanwhile, can manage passwords and some basic security controls. They can also contact Dropbox…
