Snapchat
Snapchat has changed how you view snaps or stories. Instead of pressing and holding, you only need to tap the screen. No more numb fingers when you’re checking out longer snaps! There is also a neat new ‘add nearby’ function that allows you to find local Snapchat users and add them to your friends list. Additionally, you can see friends on the list and get in touch when they’re nearby. Snapcodes are also getting a “serious upgrade.” You can now add a selfie to the center of the code so everyone knows it’s yours. Snapcode screenshots can be sent through…

Ask Siri if you can listen to Beats 1 and it’ll probably get the answer wrong

Apple Music arrived yesterday and one of its biggest features is Beats 1, the global streaming music station. Don’t try asking Siri about that though. Apple’s personal assistant hasn’t got the memo. In fact, it tells me the service “isn’t available in [my] country.” The same thing happens for other colleagues in the UK and beyond, despite the obvious fact that they’ve already been listening to the station and Beats 1 is available…

heart netflix
If you live in Chicago, streaming services get more expensive. A new “cloud tax” law goes into effect in the city today, aimed at seeking out more revenue from popular streaming platforms. According to The Verge, the tax is made up of two different rulings from the city’s Department of Finance. One covers streaming platforms like Netflix and Spotify (for ‘electronically delivered amusements’), the other would cover remote databases like Amazon Web Services or Microsoft’s Azure (for ‘nonpossessory computer leases’). It’s a 9 percent tax, so $100 of server time elsewhere would cost $109 in Chicago. The tax is applied…

The value of superusers for your brand

superusers

This post was brought to you by desk.com the fast, awesome customer service app for small business.

Think of a brand that you have nothing but positive things to say about. Conjure elements up of the company, its products or services, the logo, maybe the last time you had to jump on a customer service call with them. For fairly commonplace reasons you like them probably because you got what you expected—maybe even a little extra. Now, consider the last time you told a friend about the brand. Maybe suggesting their website or praising their customer service. Perhaps you took an Instagram photo of your new product, telling more than enough friends what you love about it.…
