Google will finally add native visual voicemail support to Android M, with a catch

AndroidTNW
Android fans may like to tease Apple users for only recently implementing certain features they’ve had for a while, but one place Google has lagged behind Apple is native visual voicemail, which iPhones have supported since the original 2007 model. Android M will finally catch up. According to Android Police, the next version of Android will finally bake the functionality right into the OS. There’s a caveat, however, as carriers need to individually implement support for Google’s service themselves. So far only T-Mobile in the US and Orange in France appear to have signed up, although there’s still plenty of…

Amazon Prime Day sucks. Here’s how it could do better

Amazon Prime Day
Amazon Prime Day, the new made-up holiday by the marketplace giant that promised great deals for their Amazon Prime subscribers, sucks. I mean, it really sucks. The trumpeted, high-profile deals on Amazon products like the Amazon Echo went blazingly fast, leaving the rest of the slow plebes or late-comers to basically junk. I believe Amazon can do better, and I want to believe that Amazon wants to do better. Here are some super simple ways to maybe Prime Day 2016 better. If there is a Prime Day 2016. Employ the Wish List & Order History Amazon users who are also Prime…

PopKey’s mobile GIF keyboard now lands on the desktop

popkey
Just when you thought you were overdosing on GIF animations (could that ever really happen?), PopKey has taken its mobile GIF keyboard and put it right on the desktop for your viewing pleasure. The desktop version of PopKey sits in your menu bar — I’m using it on the Mac, but there is also a Windows version — and as you click on the magenta octopus icon, the app interface drops down to show you a grid of the latest Trending and Featured GIF animations. You can move the slider down to browse for the perfect GIF. For a specific GIF,…

Want to know if that Amazon Prime Day price is actually a good deal? Use this tool

Want to know if that Amazon sale is actually a good one? As Prime Day turns into a sad, sordid joke — sales are still going on. A tool named camelcamelcamel will let you know if that leaf blower are actually a bargain. Here’s how it works: you can either visit the camelcamelcamel (let’s just call it CCC, shall we?) website and enter an amazon item URL into search (or search for an item by name) , and CCC will show you pricing history of that item. You can also download a browser extension for Chrome, Safari or Firefox for…

Microsoft releases near-final Windows 10 build, claims Edge beats Chrome in Google benchmarks

Microsoft is rolling out build 10240 of Windows 10 to members of its Insider program, and it looks to be a near-final version of the operating system. Microsoft is confident enough in this version to remove the desktop watermark, and doesn’t list any known issues in its blog post. Although the company does not specifically say that this is the build that will be rolling out to manufacturers, reports suggest 10240 is the golden number. Still Microsoft says that Insiders will still be seeing some new updates over the next two weeks. The new build is available through the standard…
