Face swapping is all the rage right now and Facebook wants in on the action. According to a report from Business Insider, the social network has acquired one of the most popular apps right now, Masquerade.

The app works in a similar way to Snapchat’s face filters, letting you morph or overlay your face with silly filters like glasses or a pirate hat. It shot to fame thanks to its face swapping feature that eerily put your face inside someone else’s in real time.

Masquerade didn’t say how much it was acquired for, but said in a blog post that’s disappeared that “we’re excited to join forces with Facebook and bring the technology to even more people.”

That means you might be able to start overlaying things on your selfies right in the Facebook app very soon – and that you’ll start seeing even more of those weird face swaps in your feed.
