Facebook launched its standalone Web-based Messenger service only a few hours ago, and it’s already down. The instant messaging service has been unavailable for about three hours now. Most reports of the outage are coming from users in the EU, North America and New Zealand, as Messenger.com is English-only at present. Only the Web-based client is affected at this time; Messenger is up and running on Facebook.com and its mobile apps.
