"Widespread apathy to the Grimsvotn Volcano eruption in Iceland is reflected by the Mild interest it raised in Google Trends. This demonstrates the weakness a story on the web if it does not include babes, cyberculture, or relationships. In other words, Iceland may regret that it is not led by a nefarious womanizer like Arnold Schwarzenegger." ~ Yasha Harari

It’s barely been a month since Facebook unleashed its cryptocurrency Libra into the wild and published its whitepaper. But already, the social media giant has been forced to address a growing number of fake communications associated to its digital asset. Around a dozen “fake accounts, pages, and groups,” claiming to be official Libra outlets, have sprung up on Facebook and Instagram, The Washington Post reports. This is on top of the growing list of websites claiming to already be selling Libra tokens. The fake communications reportedly featured Facebook‘s logo, branding, photos of Mark Zuckerberg, or Libra‘s official marketing imagery. The…

Every year, the Unicode Consortium, the organization which oversees emoji development, adds new emoji ranging from hand gestures to objects. Now a bot on Twitter is trying to create fresh emoji by mashing them up. Emoji Mashup Bot, built by student and developer Louan Bengmah, Emoji Mashup Bot takes two random emoji from Twitter and mixes up their elements. Here are some fun ones to look at.  😁 beaming-closed-eyes + 🤑 money-lover = pic.twitter.com/2N07oCaM9F — Emoji Mashup Bot (@EmojiMashupBot) July 23, 2019 😉 winking + 😿 sad-cat = pic.twitter.com/Ur7wbVbh8O — Emoji Mashup Bot (@EmojiMashupBot) July 22, 2019 😡 extremely-angry + 🤯 exploding = pic.twitter.com/WPZ17mZtjh — Emoji…
