I was curious when the famous programmers do their work. And it is quite easy to find. The result of programmers work is a code. Code is stored in version control systems (VCS). When you put code in VCS the time is record. One of the most popular version control system is git. When you put code in it you create the thing called “commit”. Here is an example of raw information about some git commit: $ git cat-file commit 82be015 tree 496d6428b9cf92981dc9495211e6e1120fb6f2ba author Ivan Bessarabov <ivan@bessarabov.ru> 1563188141 +0300 committer Ivan Bessarabov <ivan@bessarabov.ru> 1563188141 +0300 Initial commit Here you can…

Ethereum lagged in active dapp users in Q2, but its price doubled – here’s what happened

If you’ve been interested in cryptocurrency and blockchain for anything more than a week, you’ll almost certainly know about Vitalik Buterin’s Ethereum platform. But if you don’t here’s a quick recap on what Ethereum is. Ethereum’s creators wanted to build a platform that would allow users all over the world to write decentralized applications, and use the Ethereum blockchain as what it calls a “world computer.” Ethereum made smart contracts a common part of the blockchain conversation. Smart contracts are programming tools that let developers write self-executing scripts that run on the Ethereum blockchain. When these scripts are executed, the…

Senate Intelligence Committee: Russia targeted all 50 US states ahead of 2016 elections

In a heavily redacted report released by the Senate Intelligence Committee today says Russians targeted election systems in all 50 US states ahead of the 2016 elections. This shows a much larger impact than previous reports (which separately noted that 21 states, and then 39 states were affected) as targets of the Russian interference. Michael Daniel, the cybersecurity coordinator for the Obama administration, told the committee in August 2016 that Russians had “attempted to intrude in all 50 states.” The suspicion was confirmed by an intelligence report in 2018. This was echoed in a joint report published in April by the Federal…

Even as WhatsApp readies to launch its mobile payment service in India later this year, the government is concerned about its privacy and security ramifications. “Indian authorities are concerned that WhatsApp’s payment service might share user data with group companies Facebook and Instagram, compromising the security, privacy and non-commercial information of its subscribers,” according to a report from the Economic Times. The government has reportedly asked the National Payments Corporation of India — the authority operating retail payments and settlement systems in the country — to ensure that user data collected through payment services such as WhatsApp and Google Pay…
