Hands-on: The Unihertz Titan is a delightful homage to the BlackBerry Passport

Phones are interesting again. Manufacturers, predominantly Chinese in origin, are designing quirky devices that target select, often narrow, demographics. A great example of this is the Unihertz Titan, which is currently in the process of being crowdfunded on Kickstarter. This handset caters to the (presumably small) niche of people who desire a rugged phone with a physical keyboard and a widescreen display. It’s strongly reminiscent of the divisive BlackBerry Passport, albeit running Android 9.0, and with the inherent hardiness of a CAT phone. In short: it’s weird. But also, I kinda love it. I got my hands on one last…

Sony today revealed it was adding new Dualshock 4 colors to an already-long list, including a color I’m pretty sure they’re trying to pass off as Rose Gold. Sony revealed the new batch of colors in the PlayStation blog today. For the most part, the colors are what they say they are: Titanium Blue, Red Camo — which is kind of an oxymoron, but whatever — and Electric Purple, which has some very fetching white shape buttons. I’m with you so far. I might even pick up an Electric Purple — my old black Dualshock is starting to resemble a…

Logitech G today announced the G815 and G915 mechanical gaming keyboards. They’re among the thinnest and most feature-packed the company’s made and they’re drop-dead gorgeous. Seriously, just have a look: While both devices share the same aesthetic, the G815 Keyboard is wired and the G915 uses the company’s Lightspeed wireless technology. Both feature an ultra-thin design and low profile GL switches (more on those in a moment) in an aircraft-grade aluminum chassis. You’ll also get Lightsync, Logitech‘s RGB lighting software that features fully-customizable and game-responsive lighting patterns in about 16.8 million colors in both devices. This represents the first time…

Reminders are one of the most useful features of AI assistants. Pick up some groceries, take out the trash, set up a dentist appointment. But what about those times you need to nag other people to do something? Google Assistant can soon do that for you too. The feature, dubbed assignable reminders, simply requires you to say something like “Hey Google, remind Cornelius to grab some croissants tomorrow morning.” Cornelius will receive a notification throughout his assistant devices both when the reminder is created and at the time denoted. Google can also set reminders to go off when Cornelius arrives at…

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite’s lack of accessibility is turning us into muggles

Here’s the good news: there is a Wizarding World after all. Hogwarts, hippogriffs, flying broomsticks, the Ministry of Magic, it’s all real! A most whimsical, freeing, empowering, and inspiring reality exists for wizards and witches, and it’s closely within reach, accessible with a flick of the wand. For many who grew up with the Harry Potter fantasy, this is a dream come true. However, there’s also bad news: you’re a muggle, and this wizarding reality was only built for those with magical inclinations. That’s to say, the Wizarding World is specifically not built for you.  Awful, no? This was close…
