South Korea takes the brunt of North Korea’s cryptocurrency cyberattacks

A United Nations (UN) report has disclosed how the intergovernmental organization is investigating at least 35 cyberattacks led by North Korea, South China Morning Post reports. The attacks include cryptocurrency exchange hacks and crypto-jacking campaigns. South Korea was the most affected being victim to 10 attacks from its northern neighbor. India witnessed three attacks, Bangladesh and Chile both experienced two each. A further 13 countries including Kuwait, Nigeria, Poland, and South Africa were all affected once. Facebook is finally testing Dark Mode

From Android to iOS, and from Twitter to Slack, almost every app now has a dark mode. FBI proposal outlines plans for large scale collection of social media data

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is planning to step up its efforts to monitor social media platforms more aggressively in order to detect potential threats. The move, according to the Wall Street Journal, clashes with Facebook’s privacy policies and “possibly its attempts to comply with a record $5 billion settlement with the U.S. government reached last month.” The law enforcement agency is said to be seeking technological solutions from third-party contractors that would make it possible to harvest publicly-available information en masse from Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms.
