China has no idea know when it will launch its digital currency

Despite reports last month that China was readying itself to deploy its own government digital currency, it now seems the country is not so surefooted regarding the asset’s roll out. In a press conference in Beijing yesterday, The People’s Bank of China’s (PBoC) governor Yi Gang said that there is “no timetable” for the launch of its new digital currency, South China Morning Post reports. Last month, reports surfaced which stated the PBoC had allegedly said its digital currency was “almost ready.” The sources were said to be a former employee at a Chinese institution pegged to receive the currency…

The magnaða tale of the iPhone 6s that survived a year in the Icelandic wilderness after falling from a plane

The Nokia 3310’s robustness is legendary, but it seems it has an unlikely new contender when it comes to durability: the iPhone 6s Plus. Last year, photographer Haukur Snorrason was on an aerial photo tour of the Skaftá river in South Iceland to grab pictures of the yearly glacier river floods. Unfortunately, when he grabbed his iPhone to film the flood, the phone got swept away by a gust of wind. Falling 60 meters (200 feet) down on rocky terrain — where a massive river was overflowing and rupturing roads — the time came for Haukur to say goodbye to…

‘Big Four’ accounting firm KPMG has revealed that 83 percent of Americans aged 18 to 24 it surveyed were interested in the future of blockchain tokens — despite sickeningly poor market performance over the past two years. Generation Z is apparently not alone in its curiosity, either. According to KPMG, consumers from all age groups are increasingly willing to make purchases with tokens, over half of surveyed Americans aged 65 and up showed explicit interest in tokenization. It doesn’t even boil down to simple familiarity. Just one third of surveyed consumers reported to be ‘highly familiar’ with blockchain-based tokens, but 63…

91% of Russians would rather pirate than pay for content, survey shows

Russians have no qualms with pirated games, software, movies, TV shows, and music, a new survey reveals. Only 9 percent of Russian netizens prefer sticking to exclusively legal content, according to data from security firm ESET reviewed by TorrentFreak. While the number seemingly suggests that the remaining 91 percent resort to piracy, the survey makes no mention of “dual buyers” — people who pirate content, but also occasionally pay for it. Indeed, studies have previously shown that some pirates often convert to legitimate paying customers. So piracy doesn’t always end up affecting sales negatively, from that point of view at…
