The UK’s controversial porn block law has been scrapped for good

The UK has scrapped a controversial plan to require age verification for accessing porn online, after repeated delays. Digital Secretary Nicky Morgan said the measure — which was initially scheduled to go into effect in March 2018 — “will not be commencing.” Instead, the government plans to accomplish the goal of “protecting children online” as part of a “propsed online harms regulatory regime.” Morgan didn’t elaborate further on what these proposals would entail. The proposed law would’ve forced pornography websites to age-verify internet users in the UK to ensure they are above the age of 18 before allowing access to pornographic material. But…

China’s Tencent will seamlessly embed video ads directly into movies

It’s quite common to see ads that interrupt your videos mid-stream on the web. However, Chinese tech giant Tencent is trying something different – embedding the ad into an object right within the video you’re watching. Google’s Titan key for locking your online accounts is now available with USB-C

The internet giant has announced a USB-C Titan Security Key, manufactured by Yubico, that’s compatible with Android, Chrome OS, macOS, and Windows devices for $40. Titan Security Keys are phishing-resistant two-factor authentication (2FA) devices from Google, designed with an intent to cryptographically verify an individual’s identity while signing in to an online service, thereby defending users against account takeover attacks.
