Quotable

"Despite all that Obama Money, Green Jobs are so hard to get these days, I saw a Solar Panel and a Wind Turbine panhandling at the Gov't Subsidies Office. And they were fighting over their places with a Chevy Volt." ~ Yasha Harari

One of my favorite pieces of wearable technology I’ve tested here at TNW was an actual article of clothing: the Oros Orion Parka. Using an Aerogel-based insulator called Solarcore – Aerogel is the same material used by NASA to insulate equipment such as the Mars Rover – the coat was one of the warmest coats I’ve worn while maintaining minimal bulk. Today, Oros is launching a Kickstarter campaign updating the Orion Parka with a new and improved look, while also introducing two new designs that will arrive next fall: the Astra pullover and Atmos hoodie. As a recap, aerogel is one of…

Google today launched TensorFlow Quantum (TFQ), an open-source library for prototyping quantum machine learning models. Quantum computers aren’t quite mainstream yet, but when they arrive they’ll need algorithms. TFQ fills that Gap by making it possible for developers to create hybrid AI algorithms that use both classical computing techniques and quantum computer circuit simulations. According to a blog post from Google AI: TFQ provides the tools necessary for bringing the quantum computing and machine learning research communities together to control and model natural or artificial quantum systems; e.g. Noisy Intermediate Scale Quantum (NISQ) processors with ~50 – 100 qubits. TFQ…

Did you know the TNW Conference has a track fully dedicated to exploring the latest work culture trends and the future of work this year? Check out the full program here. The most exciting breakthroughs of the twenty-first century will not occur because of technology, but because of an expanding concept of what it means to be human. — John Naisbitt Before we dive into why more women should lead AI teams, I want to share a fascinating story I heard from Tania Biland, a 3rd-year student of Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. The story as narrated by Tania: Last…
