It’s official: Sonos today unveiled the Roam, a small Bluetooth speaker promising big sound and unique features to help it stand out from the crowd. The announcement was nearly completely spoiled by leaks, but it’s nonetheless an important new product for the audio company A smaller and lighter follow-up to the excellent Sonos Move, the Roam measures just 168 x 62 x 60mm (6.6 x 2.4 x 2.3 inches), but aims to shine in the sound department with its racetrack woofer and tweeter plus automatic TruePlay tuning. If you’re not familiar, TruePlay is Sonos’ technology that allows a speaker to change…

AI generates trippy music video inspired by 50,000 album covers

A Spanish artist has created a trippy music video by training a deep-learning algorithm on thousands of album covers. Bruno López produced the video by using a combination of Spotify data, Python scripts, and Generative Adversarial Networks. He first created a script that downloaded the album covers for every track featured on Spotify’s official editorial playlists. The result was a dataset of around 50,000 covers with individual resolutions of 640 x 640. This was used as training data for Nvidia’s StyleGAN2 architecture, the same system that previously brought us pizzas, fursonas, and My Little Pony characters that don’t exist. After several days of training,…

Get an extra screen for your laptop and even phone with his 1080p portable screen

TLDR: The Uperfect 15.6″ Portable Monitor is an on-the-go second screen that brings HD-quality video when connected to a smartphone, laptop and more. Second screens always come in handy, especially when the first screen is a little on the small side. You can practically feel your eyeballs scrunching up and your vision deteriorating as you hold a phone screen inches from your face while you play a game or try to get some work done on that minuscule canvas. Instead, users can have a ready-to-go second screen on the fly whenever it’s needed with the Uperfect 15.6-inch Portable Monitor ($197.99,…

Asteroid dust helps solve the mystery of dinosaur extinction

Mar06
by Sindy Cator on March 6, 2021 at 4:00 pm
Posted In: Uncategorized

More than 99% of all organisms that have ever lived on Earth are now extinct. Most of these just died out quietly. However, in Earth’s history there have been five major mass extinction events – known as the big five – during which many species became extinct at the same time. Each of the big five events caused at least a 40% loss of all species on Earth. Yet humans hold a particular grudge against the most recent one, which brought a sudden end to the 160-million-year history of the dinosaurs. This was the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction, and it happened 66…
