Ripple CEO: Bitcoin’s influence over cryptocurrency prices is almost over

Since their inception, altcoin prices have mostly risen and fallen with the price of Bitcoin. According to Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, those days are numbered. “There’s a very high correlation between the price of [Ripple] and the price of bitcoin, but ultimately these are independent open-sourced technologies,” Garlinghouse told CNBC. “It’s early, over time you’ll see a more rational market and behaviors that reflect that.” In the earliest days of altcoins, it was a necessary evil. Entering a cryptocurrency market was typically accomplished in a fairly straightforward manner: purchase Bitcoin (BTC) by trading your preferred currency (like USD) for an…

Here’s why that $27k Star Citizen pack makes perfect sense

The creators of the forever-in-the-future game Star Citizen are adding a content pack that’s worth more than a new mid-priced sedan. And at this point, no one should be surprised — particularly since the developers say the fans have been asking for just such an add-on for a while. If you’ve managed to go this long without hearing the saga of Star Citizen, then here it is in a nutshell: it’s an embryonic massively multiplayer online space sim with ambitions of grandeur which has raised over $186 million in six years of crowdfunding. The game still doesn’t seem to be close to…

ASUS’ new motherboard is designed specifically for cryptocurrency mining

ASUS, the Taiwan-based electronic manufacturer, is making cryptocurrency mining easier for individual miners. The company announced the launch of its H370 mining master motherboard on Wednesday. The motherboard has been designed specifically for mining cryptocurrencies. Among other features, the product will support up to 20 graphics cards, and let USB riser cables plug directly into the printed circuit board (PCB) to simplify connectivity. The company also claims that it will easier to diagnose problems with the motherboard reducing the downtime. The product will initially become available in the North American countries between July to September this year. ASUS has however…

Hands-on: The new Razer Blade is a sleek gaming laptop with tiny bezels

Razer changed our perception of what a gaming laptop could be when it first introduced the Blade. In 2013, it was arguably the first gaming laptop that didn’t look overly gaudy or aggressive, but while its successors have all had their share of improvements, the design was becoming stale. Most notably, Razer was still sporting huge bezels in an age where maximizing screen real estate is a priority. Enter the new Razer Blade. It’s the biggest update to the line ever. The tiny bezels help increase the screen size from 14 inches to 15.6 – despite overall volume actually being…

Apple, Microsoft, and USB-IF team up to standardize braille displays

May31
by Sindy Cator on May 31, 2018 at 3:26 pm
Posted In: Around the Web, Gadgets, gear

Apple, Microsoft and the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) have announced a human interface device (HID) standard for braille displays. This collaboration is huge news for people who are blind or suffering with low vision, as it will make using a braille display across different hardware far, far easier. The idea is that it removes the need for braille devices to have specially designed software or drivers. This will substantially reduce development time and, hopefully, open up the market. You can find more information in the release. I’ve got to say, I was shocked this wasn’t already a thing. With computers…
