Google is reportedly working in a new feature in ChromeOS called Campfire, which will allow users to dual-boot Windows 10 on their Chromebook laptops. The feature was highlighted by XDA Developers, which discovered a code branch called Campfire in the Chromium Git, and a reference to an “Alt OS.” It has since been confirmed that this is Windows. Adding fuel to the campfire, the team at XDA Developers also found evidence that this isn’t just an internal test, but a feature that the company intends to launch publicly. From what we know so far, Campfire is genuinely really exciting. For…

Take a look inside the Furby’s leaked source code

The source code to the original Furby has leaked. If you were a parent in the 1990’s annoyed by its incessant chirping (or indeed, if you were a kid doing the annoying), now’s your chance to dive into its internals and see how it works. original source code for the furby https://t.co/mUfkufkKdr — hello (@bobpoekert) August 12, 2018 The Furby’s source code is written in 6502 assembly. Is your cryptocurrency portfolio looking a little light lately? That’s nothing compared to one Finnish investor, who lost 5,500 Bitcoin ($35 million) to an investment scam this year. Bangkok Post reports that businessman Aarni Otava Saarimaa was approached by a group who sought to link him up with some hot investments: shares in a few high-profile companies and a cryptocurrency called Dragon Coin. The story reads almost like a screenplay: a young, tech-savvy international millionaire courted by a Thai criminal syndicate (run by a movie star) for Bitcoin investments – none of which eventuated. The gang allegedly had convinced Saarimaa and an…

Ticketmaster to close its loathed European resale sites

Aug13

This is a familiar scenario for anyone who has ever tried to buy tickets for a highly sought-after concert or sporting event. You wake up early and sit dutifully before your computer. At 8AM, tickets go on sale. By 8:05, they’re completely sold out. But wait! You can still find some on Ticketmaster’s partner websites. Except they’re arse-clenchingly expensive. What would have sold for £40 during its initial release is now £200 — or more. I mentioned Ticketmaster because they’re the biggest culprits here, and own two huge resale sites — Seatwave and Get Me In. These secondary resale sites…
