Report: Apple may launch a new MacBook Air in September or October

A report out of Taiwan indicates that Apple could be gearing up to ship a new MacBook Air in either September or October. According to TrendForce, a Taiwanese research firm: The second quarter was the transition period when Apple was preparing for the releases of the upcoming new MacBook devices for the year. TrendForce therefore expects MacBook shipments to again post a large [quarter over quarter] increase in Q3 2018, as Apple will be releasing a new MacBook Pro at the start of the quarter and a new MacBook Air at the end of the quarter. A team of researchers from the University of Warsaw recently developed an AI bot to play Blizzard’s Hearthstone. This isn’t the first machine built to play the game, but it may very well set the benchmark for all that come after it. Hearthstone is a collectible card game, like Magic the Gathering or Yu-Gi-Oh. Its rules and format make it a great candidate for exploration by machine learning developers. Like poker, it requires players to work with both shared and limited information. The player that outperforms the other player tends to win, despite the fact that luck also factors in.…

Fertility app blamed for 37 unwanted pregnancies is now FDA approved in the USA

On August 10, the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) made a surprising move by officially approving fertility app Natural Cycles in the USA. Though the fertility app was approved in Europe last year, has over 700,000 users, and is available in 161 countries, Natural Cycles hasn’t gone without its controversies. Earlier this year, a hospital in Stockholm reported that 37 out of the 668 women who sought abortion over a four month period had been using Natural Cycles to prevent unwanted pregnancies. Since this incident, the fertility app has been under investigation by the Advertising Standards Authority in the UK.
