Google recently announced its plan to curtail the distribution of cryptocurrency mining apps on the Play Store, but it appears some are still slipping through the net. “We don’t allow apps that mine cryptocurrency on devices,” the Big G wrote in its updated developer policies last month. “We permit apps that remotely manage the mining of cryptocurrency.” But this isn’t stopping developers from pushing smartphone mining software to the Play Store anyway. EOS community fights back against ‘whales’ controlling its blockchain

Aug17

The EOS community is growing anxious that its blockchain is really being controlled by a select few. A petition has been drafted to introduce voting limits to protect small-time token holders against the influence of whales.  EOS runs on Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) to determine who validates blocks on its blockchain: instead of miners though, it uses so-called block producers (BPs). The idea is that those who have invested more money should have a stronger voice when it comes to making important decisions, as they have more to lose – but there is currently no limit to the amount of votes…

A federal judge in San Fracisco has ordered a cyber-criminal to pay their bail charges in Bitcoin, inadvertently stimulating cryptocurrency mainstream adoption. The Daily Post – a local Palo Alto newspaper – reports Martin Marisch has been charged with hacking the well-known video games company Electronic Arts, responsible for popular titles like FIFA, The Sims, and Battlefield. Marisch, the Daily Post reports, managed to gain access to EA’s central computer systems, and obtain 25,000 customer records. Had the attack not been caught, Marisch could’ve used this information for substantial financial gain. Federal Judge Jacqueline Corley ordered the defendant to pay the…
