Mixmax Rules is like IFTTT for email

Many of us live in our inboxes, spending hours composing and forwarding emails, and using the information contained within in other contexts and services, like Slack and Trello. Mixmax hopes to make that last bit easier with Mixmax Rules. This is a user-programmable system that lets you connect the data held within the vaults of your email account with other popular external services. So, for example, you could program Mixmax Rules to send you an SMS when a condition is met — like when a pre-defined person sends you an email. It uses the same “if this then that” logic…

Google just turned 20 — time for it to grow up

Google was incorporated on September 4th 1998 with the unofficial motto “Don’t be evil.” In the two decades since, its risen from a blip on the technology radar to become one of the most valuable companies in the history of the world. The motto only lasted 19 years. The company’s founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, were a couple of college students with ideas about the internet that changed everything. It would have been impossible for them, then, to know they were building a company that would eclipse Microsoft and Intel in value. Last year, in celebration of the 19th…

Skype has yet another new design, but hasn’t fixed its core problems

Microsoft today announced it would be walking back previous updates to Skype, and returning to the basics of video calling and messaging. Essentially, it’s finally dropped the hokey makeover it forced on users last year. While it’s nice to see Microsoft eating a proper amount of crow over that, it’s still not enough to induce me to return to an app that was giving me fits long before that point. Over a year ago, Skype decided to switch over to a fuchsia-and-teal layout, filled with colorful squiggles, confusing features, and the much-maligned “Highlights” — which was basically Snapchat Stories. Cryptocurrency exchange Changelly admits it can steal users’ Monero (if it wanted to)

Sep04

The funds were immediately quarantined until the account has been cleared of anything untoward.  A Changelly spokesperson has since confirmed the exchange service can indeed withhold suspicious transactions (and hold their funds until users provide further information). “To all Monero…
