Kik-approved messaging app caught storing user passwords in plain text

It appears that messaging app Blastchat – which was recently selected for Kik’s $3 million cryptocurrency developer program – has been caught storing sensitive user data, including passwords, in plain text. Blastchat gained recognition following its inclusion the Kin Developer Program, an incubator-style startup ecosystem created by instant messaging giant Kik. The program is designed to source the best in new cryptocurrency projects by putting $3 million in incentives up for grabs. Despite earning a spot in Kik’s developer program, Blastchat reportedly did not use any encryption for communicating between devices and (centralized) servers. Morgan Stanley wants to sell Bitcoin – without actually selling it

Morgan Stanley plans to offer a new way for clients to invest in Bitcoin and potentially benefit from its growth without actually buying any of the cryptocurrency itself. The US investment bank will offer contracts that are tied to the value fluctuations of the cryptocurrency. This gives clients a form of synthetic exposure to Bitcoin’s performance, an anonymous source close to the matter told Bloomberg. Morgan Stanley will not trade Bitcoin directly, the source said. The offered contracts are tied to Bitcoin futures contracts; payouts to investors will be made based on increases or decreases in Bitcoin’s price over set…

Global accountancy giant EY runs an annual competition to find France’s best new businesses.
