On October 18 some of the world’s leading authorities on extending Excel using JavaScript, .NET, Python, VBA, and C++ will be flying in to London to present at our major community-driven not-for-profit conference on Excel Extensibility, “Develop Excel”.

If you are a developer or responsible for building Excel-based addins and solutions you really owe it to yourself to come and meet the speakers, hear the latest thinking on Excel extensibility and discuss the impact to your addins and solutions of the changes that Microsoft is making to core Excel function (including any changes announced at Microsoft Ignite September 24-28).

This is a unique conference: never before have so many Excel world-class developers gathered together to share their knowledge.

For details of the sessions see here

A security researcher has found out that due to a vulnerability in WebKit (a rendering engine used by Safari browser), it takes only a few lines of CSS code to crash an iPhone or an iPad. The code itself is not too complex and uses multiple nested elements like <div> tags inside a CSS effect called backdrop-filter, used for color shifting behind the element. This is a processor intensive task which takes up a lot of the device’s resources and can be used to make it crash. Sabri Haddouche – the man who found the vulnerability – posted a video…

The crypto-jacking epidemic has spread to India. It has come to light that tons of Indian government sites have been infected with cryptocurrency mining malware, designed to steal visitors’ computing power to earn coins. Among others, the attackers targeted the websites of the Andhra Pradesh municipality, the Tirupati Municipal Corporation, and the Macherla municipality, the India Times reports. The malware was first discovered by a group of Guwahati-based security researchers Shakil Ahmed, Anish Sarma and Indrajeet Bhuyan. The group identified that the affected websites were subdomains of the most visited websites in the country. The government has since confirmed the…
