I wrote about my hands-on experience with the Honor Play when it launched last month, and I’ve tested it extensively since to see how it fares as a gaming phone. It’s unlike other devices aimed at gamers, because it looks just like any other Android handset on the market today, and it also costs a fair bit less. I’m happy to report that it indeed works well if you’re keen on testing your skills in Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) and other graphics-intensive titles. Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro is showing now signs of slowing down on his dream of making national cryptocurrency, the Petro, a thing. Yesterday, Maduro got on state television to reveal his cryptocurrency brainchild will be used in international transactions starting from October 1, 2018. “On October 1, the petro [sic] will enter the streets to become a means for commodity exchange, purchase and convertible currency for the whole world,” Maduro said (via Sputnik News). Maduro has been pushing the Petro for some time. He has declared its use for housing the homeless, conducting oil trade, and even paying salaries. He…

Bitcoin devs warn of possible chainsplit following severe DDoS vulnerability

Bitcoin Core developers have issued an important statement to the entire community, as the fallout from a recently disclosed DDoS vulnerability intensifies. The vulnerability, which researchers disclosed earlier this week, made it possible for miners to sabotage the Bitcoin network by sending transaction data twice. The Bitcoin development team now warns that while the bug has been fixed, there are still some risks involved. “[…] There is currently a small risk of a chainsplit.
