A rumor surfaced this week that Nintendo was working on a retro version of the N64 console, which would include 30 games. If that’s true, it would put the device on par with the original NES Classic in terms of value. So which games should make the cut? A report from GamingINTEL cited insider sources and predicted the console would be announced this month and released in time for the holiday season. However the report also said the announcement would come at the end of today’s Nintendo Direct, but that didn’t happen (though we did welcome Ken, Incineroar, and the Piranha…

Google employees today took to the streets in a massive protest. At 11:10 a.m., in every time zone in which the staged walkout took place, about 40 in total, Googlers left their offices and stood with colleagues to demand change. Rally organizers told The Cut: All employees and contract workers across the company deserve to be safe. Sadly, the executive team has demonstrated through their lack of meaningful action that our safety is not a priority. We’ve waited for leadership to fix these problems, but have come to this conclusion: no one is going to do it for us. So…

Sonos pushes back Google Assistant support to next year

The Sonos One and Sonos Beam launched with Alexa, but one of their biggest features was support for Google Assistant down the road. Assistant was originally supposed to launch in early 2018, but considering radio stations are already prepping their Christmas playlists, it looks like that’s not going to happen. In a blog post today, Sonos confirmed it had pushed back the launch of Google Assistant: While we originally planned to have the experience ready to ship in 2018, the reality is that we need a bit more time to get the experience right and will now look to lock down…

Pusher today announced the general availability of its chat API, Chatkit, which allows developers to quickly introduce real-time conversational experiences to their mobile and web applications. Chatkit, which has been in beta since last November, is an all-in-one suite of tools that cover most edge cases when it comes to real-time chatting. Out of the box, it allows developers to support rich media messaging, read receipts, and permissions. In addition to the user-facing elements, Chatkit also includes sophisticated tools to aid developers during the building and deployment process, thanks to a visual debug tool called Instance Inspector. The API also…
