After Samsung teased its foldable phone at an event last week, South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency reported today that the company plans to launch the device in March 2019 – with a hefty price tag. The phone is expected to be named the ‘Galaxy F’ and cost roughly $1,770. The official unveiling will follow that of the company’s Galaxy S10 flagship in February. Samsung hopes to sell a million units of its foldable handset. Yonhap noted that alongside the Galaxy F, we’ll also see a 5G-capable version of the S10 in March. If the report is accurate, the Galaxy F…

AI’s success hinges on new attitudes — not old regulations

Twenty years ago, car makers were on the precipice of a major technological breakthrough. Until that point, systems such as braking and steering had been controlled by the mechanical certainty of gears, rods, and levers. But by the late 1990s, manufacturers and key component suppliers started looking at replacing these physical systems with digital equivalents in the form of electronic motors and actuators. This was the first step in the development of what we’d now consider a modern digitally controlled car. I was working in the automotive industry at the time, and I was surprised by how many among my colleagues,…

This Day In Deals is our new section where we share a historical fact and the day’s best deal – and try to connect them. The aim? To enrich ourselves financially, and you spiritually. Sports are such big business these days, it’s hard to picture a time when they, well, weren’t. Think of American Football. These days, NFL players are rockstars. They own mansions, top-of-the-range cars, and can barely go anywhere without being mobbed. This level of success and professionalism didn’t just appear though. It had to start somewhere. And it did. Specifically, on this day back in 1892. And…

With the nights drawing in, we’re officially in hibernation mode now, so we spent most of the weekend in bed hiding from the wind and rain. But it was all in vain, and now it’s Moonday again. Here’s this weekend’s round-up of top cryptocurrency and blockchain news you need to know about: 1. Another American state is coming down hard on cryptocurrency baddies. The state of Colorado has taken action against four ICOs that were pushing unregistered securities. Ordered with a cease-and-desist the ICOs can no longer operate in the Centennial State. 2. A leading American cryptocurrency law firm is…

Tech giants are generally slow when it comes to making their products accessible to the differently abled. But lately, some of them have been working on innovative projects that will accommodate more users. One of the most interesting of these comes from Chinese tech conglomerate Alibaba, which introduced a smart display technology to help the visually impaired with shopping and payments on their phones. As per a TechCrunch report, Alibaba’s R&D wing, Damo Academy, collaborated with China’s Tsinghua University to develop a cheap silicone sheet with sensory buttons that go on top of a smartphone display. The sheet – which…
