When Google announced its Pixel 3 devices, one of the most intriguing features was Night Sight – the ability to take pictures in ultra-dark situations. Sadly, the feature wasn’t available right away. Now, Night Sight is finally rolling out to all Pixel phones through an update to the camera app. We’ll take a look at how to use it, some results, and how it works.   How to use it If you own a Pixel phone, first, you need to update the camera app. Then head to the More section and select “Night Sight”.  You can start snapping photos right away.…

8 arrested for running $68M cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme in Japan

Japan has another cryptocurrency scam to recover from as police have arrested a group suspected of running a cryptocurrency pyramid scheme. Today, Tokyo police arrested eight men thought to be connected to a Ponzi scheme that collected over $68 million in cryptocurrency from around 6,000 people, local news the Asahi Shimbun reports. According to Tokyo’s Metropolitan police, the men have violated the Financial Instruments and Exchange Law (FIEL) by not registering their business with the relevant regulators and authorities. The perpetrators had been using cryptocurrency to fund their pyramid scheme and maintain some anonymity. Cryptocurrency transactions are not recognized by…

EU says GDPR will only be a problem for permissionless blockchains

The main blockchain research body of the European Commission is positive the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and blockchain can co-exist in harmony – but things will ultimately boil down to specific use cases and applications. In a report published in October, The EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum argues GDPR compliance is fundamentally less about the technology itself, and more about how those technologies are put to use. “Just like there is no GDPR-compliant Internet, or GDPR-compliant artifcial intelligence algorithm, there is no such thing as a GDPR-compliant blockchain technology,” the reports insists. “There are only GDPR-compliant use cases and applications.” But…
