Switzerland sets precedent with world’s first cryptocurrency ETP

We told you cryptocurrency-based exchange traded funds (ETFs) were coming. Switzerland’s leading stock exchange has given the go-ahead for the world’s first cryptocurrency ETP, the Financial Times reports. The ETP is called the “Amun Crypto exchange traded product (ETP)” and will be trading from next week on the “Six” exchange in Zurich. The Amun Crypto ETP will track an index made up of five leading cryptocurrencies including: Bitcoin, XRP, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin. Each of these coins will be weighted at 49.7 percent, 25.4 percent, 16.7 percent, 5.2 percent, and 3 percent, respectively. The fund holds a 2.5 percent…

Develop your innovation partnerships the same way you build your products

Nov19

The best innovation teams don’t work alone. They bring in partners from different backgrounds, countries, and even industries to help provide fresh thinking and ideas. The process of finding and forging partnerships and collaborations, however, is not easy to do well. The best teams I’ve worked with have come up with a clever solution: They develop partnerships in much the same way they develop products. Rather than simply hiring vendors, the most innovative companies establish processes and frameworks that allow them to quickly validate whether a partner will be a good fit. They’ll get to work immediately, and focus together…

Police can remotely drive your stolen Tesla into custody

Nov19

Posted In: Around the Web, The Next Police

Imagine this: You’re leaving work, walking to your car, and you find an empty parking spot — someone stole your brand new Tesla (or whatever fancy autonomous car you’re driving). When you call the police, they ask your permission for a “takeover,” which you promptly give them. Next thing you know, your car is driving itself to the nearest police station. And here’s the kicker — if the thief is inside he will remain locked inside until police can arrest them. This futuristic and almost slapstick scenario is closer than we think, says Chief Innovation Officer Hans Schönfeld who works for…

5 female entrepreneurs on how to perfect a pitch

Nov19
by Sindy Cator on November 19, 2018 at 10:00 am
Posted In: Around the Web, Growth

With only two percent of all US venture capital going to female founders in 2017, saying women have it tough when pitching to investors is a huge understatement. Whether that’s because of unconscious bias, social conditioning, or simply due to the fact we’re outnumbered, it’s fair to say something has to change, and fast. To help female founders beat these stats, we asked five successful female entrepreneurs from TQ — TNW’s tech hub in Amsterdam — for their best advice when it comes to pitching. Here are six things they wish they knew when starting out: 1. Don’t let feedback…

Moonday Mornings: The SEC has issued its first ever fines for ICO violations

Nov19
by Sindy Cator on November 19, 2018 at 9:55 am

There’s one thing that keeps us warm on cold days, Moonday Mornings. If you’re feeling a bit frosty this morning, here’s a wrap-up of the weekend’s cryptocurrency and blockchain news. 1. South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Zeniex is going to shut its doors and cease operations a mere five months after it launched. The company claim the decision was motivated by difficulties facing its proprietary token, ZXG. The worst part is that Zeniex might be the first of many as South Korean lawmakers look to regulate initial coin offerings (ICOs) this month. 2. One of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, Huobi,…
