Xiaomi turns its Redmi budget phone label into a sub-brand

Chinese hardware giant Xiaomi just announced that it is officially turning its Redmi label – which it’s used for its budget Android phones – into a sub-brand. The announcement on the company’s website indicates that it’ll reveal more information at a press conference on January 10. New USB-C protocol could save your devices from faulty chargers

To protect devices from damage through incompatible chargers and malware attacks, USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) – the organization that supports and promotes changes for USB standards – has introduced an authentication program for USB-C connections.  The program invites device makers to implement an optional cryptography-based protocol to authenticate USB-C connections.
