Ubisoft moves to the Epic Store – here’s what that means

With the release of The Division 2, Ubisoft is officially jumping ship. After having a relatively cozy relationship with Valve’s industry standard, Steam, the Canadian company is now moving to Epic’s newly-launched storefront. It begs the question: why would it bring its new release to the Epic Store, rather than sell it exclusively on its own launcher, as others have done before? If you’ve heard of the Epic Store, you likely know its major selling point: that it offers an 88/12 percent revenue split in favor of the game publisher, a much more advantageous split than Steam‘s 70/30. After launching late last…

Huawei’s Matebook 13 is like a more powerful MacBook Air for less money

Huawei has been quietly killing it in the laptop game. While not nearly as well-known as its phones, Huawei’s first two laptops, the MateBook X and MateBook X Pro, were some of the very best Windows laptops you could buy for the money. Now Huawei is back at it with its latest mainstream laptop, the MateBook 13. So far, it looks like Huawei has another strong value offering. As with previous Huawei laptops, the MateBook 13  is sporting very narrow bezels in a welcome 3:2 aspect ratio (this is the best PC aspect ratio, fight me). The resolution is a solid 2160 x…

Bitwise Asset Management applies for Bitcoin-backed ETF

Bitwise Asset Management, a cryptocurrency index fund provider, has applied for a new bitcoin-backed exchange-traded fund (ETF). The application, submitted with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), outlines the company’s proposal. For the benefit of those not in the know, an ETF is essentially a marketable security designed to track a specific stock index, a commodity bond or asset. Another thing to note is that an ETF’s price will vary throughout the day as they are purchased and sold. In this instance, Bitwise’s ETF would be used to track the Bitwise Bitcoin Total Return Index. According to a Bitwise-issued statement,…

Cryptocurrency analysts predict the end of the Bitcoin bear market

Jan10

Blockchain investigators have employed a neat method for analyzing Bitcoin activity to determine at what point long-term holders typically yield and sell their Bitcoin. Delphi Digital, an independent research boutique specializing in the digital asset market, has studied Bitcoin transaction data and market prices, calculating that Bitcoin investors are (for the most part) done with their selling. This indicates the start of an accumulation phase that might replicate investor cycles from way back in 2014, when the price fell from $1,000 to less than $200 as a result of a year-long bear market. “In its simplest form, it’s a method to…

Samsung will officially reveal the Galaxy S10 on February 20

Jan10

It’s official: Samsung will show off its newest flagship on February 20 at an event in San Francisco. The invite doesn’t reveal much other than the number ’10,’ which surprises no-one, but the image does seem to be alluding to the thin bezels we can expect from the new phone. As the 10th in the Galaxy series though – and after last year’s solid-but-iterative S9 – we’re expecting the biggest update to the S family in years The biggest aesthetic change will be with the front-facing camera. Samsung has so far decided to forego an iPhone-like notch, sticking to a…
