The source code to the iconic Windows Calculator app is now available to view on GitHub, and I’m ridiculously excited. A bit strange, isn’t it, to be excited to get a poke into the grubby internals of a calculator app? But then again, can you think of a more iconic, instantly-recognizable piece of software? The Windows Calculator has been a part of every version of Windows since Windows 1.0 was released in 1985. It predates pretty much everyone on TNW’s editorial team. If you’ve ever used a computer, you’ve almost certainly used it. It’s iconic. Microsoft has licensed the Windows…

I’m not really a $3,000 computer kind of guy. But when Alienware offered to let me review the new Aurora R8 with an Intel 9th gen processor and Nvidia RTX 2080 graphics, I quickly became one. In fact, as someone with a two-year-old toddler at home, the odds of me building a new gaming PC anytime soon are slim to none. But it’s tax season in the US, and that means some of us have a bit of extra cake to spend.…

Devil May Cry V, the long-awaited return of the legendary action game series, oozes seriously sexy style and brings some fun action game chops. It’s got some rough spots, but even at its worst, DMC V gives you more flash and fun than any other game so far this year. Putting down roots In this latest adventure, series protagonist Dante and his protege Nero are locked in combat with the Demon King Urizen, whose devilish tree, the Qliphoth, has burst from the underworld and destroyed a city. They’re joined by newcomer V, a mysterious young man with demon-controlling tattoos. Together,…

Israel regulators support ‘heavily regulated’ cryptocurrency trading platform

Mar06

An Israeli financial market regulator has given its recommendation for the creation of a heavily regulated cryptocurrency issuance platform, Reuters reports. According to the report, such a platform should allow companies to “raise money by issuing digital tokens to investors.” If you were starting to think this sounds like a securities offering, you’d probably be right. Alongside recommendations of creating a specialist platform, the Israel Securities Authority (ISA) suggests applying already existing securities laws to digital assets like securities tokens and cryptocurrencies. The ISA has not yet declared a timeline for the creation of such a platform, Reuters states. With…
