At its launch event today, Tesla unveiled its highly anticipated Model Y compact SUV, with plans to bring it to market by next fall. The company’s fifth car will be available in four configurations, and will seat seven passengers with an optional third row. The base variant comes in at $39,000, with a range of 370 kilometers (230 miles) on a single charge; the top-end Performance model will be able to cover 450 kilometers (280 miles), hit a top speed of 240 kmph (150mph), and set you back by $60,000.   If you’re hoping to score the cheapest Model Y, you’ll…

Google’s cloud-based tools provide a lot of bang for the buck. Apps like Docs, Sheets, and Slides are a collaborative dreamscape, the types of applications that allow kids to split into groups and iterate a project until completion. They also make a good instant messaging platform, according to some teens. “We don’t really pass physical notes anymore,” one unnamed student told The Atlantic’s Taylor Lorenz. For parents, physical notes were a staple of communication during their formative years. After jotting a few lines on some notebook paper, they’d fold it up, slide it across the floor (or have their classmates…

Google is apparently working to improve native support for Nintendo‘s Switch controllers within Chrome. Could this be a sign of things to come for Project Stream? A recently discovered commit in Google‘s Chromium Gerrit page proposes to “improve support for Nintendo Switch gamepads.” First spotted by 9to5Google and Owen Williams, it would improve support for Switch Pro controllers (which are currently supported on Linux) and give support for Joy-Con, either through Bluetooth or through a charging grip controller attached via USB. By itself, this would seem like a somewhat random addition, but it does bring to mind some interesting possibilities. Google’s…

A couple of weeks ago, Elon Musk announced he would reveal the Model Y – Tesla’s more affordable SUV – on March 14. Well, guess what day it is? You’ll be able to live stream the event on Tesla’s website beginning at 8PM PT/11PM ET, and if you’re unable to catch it live, we’ll post a recording right here for when you get the chance. For now, the company posted this quick teaser that should give you a rough idea of the car’s shape, at least: Model Y Thurs 8pm PDThttps://t.co/9GmXGxH0HX — Tesla (@Tesla) March 14, 2019 Here’s what we…
