A hacker by the name of Gnosticplayers is trying to sell more than 26 million user records on the dark web in exchange for $5,000 worth of Bitcoin (1.2431 BTC). This is the fourth data dump posted on Dream Market – an online darknet marketplace founded in late 2013 – by the hacker, who previously put up more than 840 million user records since mid-February. The new data dump includes files from six new companies including Indonesian e-commerce unicorn Bukalapak, which as of last year had more than 50 million users and processed half a million transactions per day. Other affected businesses include GameSalad, a game development…

It’s not surprising how grossly underrepresented women are in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM). Hell, in the UK, half of state schools submitted no girls to study A-Level physics. Although the stats are disheartening, it doesn’t reflect women’s ability, instead it shines an unforgiving light on the realities of the society we live in. Just 17 percent of the English-language biographies on Wikipedia are about women, and female scientists in particular  are badly represented. But physicist Jessica Wade is hoping to change this. An advocate for diversity in science, Wade balances her work as an award-winning…

Fighting crypto fraud will soon become easier, here’s why

Mar19

Posted In: Around the Web, Problem Solvers

Anyone who’s spent any time in cryptocurrency communities knows fraud is a widespread issue. We’ve seen ‘pump and dump’ tactics, Ponzi schemes, Twitter cryptocurrency scambots impersonating tech moguls like Elon Musk, and multi-million dollar exit-scams. All of these put investors at risk. The Texas State Securities board investigated 32 cryptocurrency investment promoters investigated in four weeks, with at least five failed to tell would-be investors about the risks while guaranteeing returns of up to 40 percent a month. Furthermore, nearly two-thirds failed to provide a physical address. This should be enough to set off alarm bells as lack of information…

How to book train tickets in India straight from the Google Pay app

Mar19
by Sindy Cator on March 19, 2019 at 8:37 am
Posted In: Apps, Around the Web, Insider

Google Pay (earlier named Tez) has recently rolled out the ability to book train tickets in India straight from the app – both on iOS and Android. The money will be deducted directly from your bank account, so you won’t need any additional apps for train booking. Before we tell you how you can book a train ticket, make sure that you have a working IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) account. If you don’t, you can create one during the booking process or sign up here. Open Google Pay app on your phone, scroll down to the Business section,…
