Larry Sanger, co-founder of Wikipedia, took the Hard Fork stage at TNW2019 to reinforce the idea that user experience (UX) is a catalyst for decentralization. Sanger, now Chief Information Officer for the blockchain-powered Everipedia platform, expressed that decentralized apps (dapps) are still too difficult for most people to use. “I don’t think there’s a single dapp that’s reached the potential we expect them to have,” Sanger said. He explained the main source of this problem was an “over-focus on the blockchain tech,” and an under-focus on usability and design (or in other words, UX.) So, to spur blockchain mass-adoption — which…

The way we eat is killing the planet — here’s how tech can help

As someone who gets way too excited about delicious food, it really pains me to admit that our modern diets are the largest cause of climate change and biodiversity loss in existence. While it’s usually easier to be blissfully ignorant, yesterday at TNW Conference I received the wake-up call I (reluctantly) needed. On stage was Eva Gladek, the founder and CEO of sustainability consultancy, Metabolic. Along the way, they’re nurtured and guided by “coaches.” But does it work? You can find out later on today, when Rochelle and a panel of students from the Agora School take to TNW’s main stage. There’s plenty more where that came from. Check out the official schedule to discover the keynotes…

Anker’s Soundcore Space NC has long held a cherished place in my tech arsenal. Sure, Anker isn’t exactly an established audio brand, but these cans can hold a candle to almost any premium noise cancelling headphones in the $100 to $200 bracket. We first reviewed them in June of last year. You can read our coverage here, but I’ll recap the main points: they’re comfortable, have a solid microphone for placing calls, and the ANC (active noise cancelling) is more than capable at muting the most annoying external noises, like airplane engines and road traffic. And, in my experience, the…
