Amazon will reportedly ship its video-streaming Android-based device early next month

Rumors have been swirling around Amazon’s launch of a set-top box, and now the Wall Street Journal reports that its video-streaming device will ship in early April via its website, as well as major retailers including Best Buy. The device is said to run on a version of Android, just like Amazon’s FireOS that power its tablets, and have apps that are already available on Apple and Roku set-top boxes — which could include Netflix and Hulu Plus. Troubled Bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox disappeared from the Internet last month and subsequently filed for bankruptcy protection in Tokyo, causing panic among users who feared that they had lost all their Bitcoins – but now Mt. Gox is finally letting users log in to check their wallet balances (via Engadget). However, it comes with a disclaimer that confirming the balance on the site doesn’t equate to a filing or any confirmation of rehabilitation claims — essentially warning users that they may not necessarily get back all the Bitcoins they have. LG rolls out its flagship G Pro 2 Android smartphone in Asian markets

After taking the wraps off its latest flagship smartphone last month, LG announced today the start of sales of the G Pro 2 in Asian markets including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia. Specific prices will be announced in individual markets, but in Singapore for example, the G Pro 2 is retailing at S$828 ($655) unlocked. The people of Vancouver got their very own eye candy Monday, in the form of a humongous, glistening interactive art installation—called Unnumbered Sparks—floating high above the waterfront near the Convention Center. Constructed with featherweight fibers, the sculpture is anchored to the roof of a nearby skyscraper. No, it was not to celebrate St. Patrick’s day, but rather to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the TED Conference, which takes place in that city through March 21. The interactive part is a unique form of artistic crowdsharing—the installation also incorporates a giant Chrome browser window that spans the 300-foot sculpture via five high-definition projectors.
