Twitter is continuing to expand the reach of its TV rating service with Nielsen, after it announced plans to launch it in Australia during the second half of the year. The service — which adds a range of Twitter metrics related to TV shows to Nielsen’s existing TV ratings data — first went live in the US in 2012 and is broadly targeted at the advertising and media industry. Apple is reportedly seeking a breakthrough in streaming TV by teaming up with Comcast

Apple is in talks with cable TV provider Comcast to come up with a streaming TV service that dishes up high network-like quality TV shows, the Wall Street Journal reports. The arrangement being discussed would make use of an Apple set-top box for streaming live and on-demand TV shows and digital recordings stored in the cloud, but the TV service’s traffic would be separated from public Internet access, effectively avoiding slow buffering that can take place while streaming Web video.
