Shooting video is a challenge because its very flexibility is often a liability: cinematic freedom comes at a time consuming, complex price. Inevitably you shoot too much, like too little, and consume hours attempting to salvage bad footage. Sometimes you wish you could just start all over again. That’s at least part of the concept behind reShoot, a free iOS video shooting, editing, and sharing app just released from Wally World Media. reShoot is designed to help mobile videographers of all skill levels get the most out of what they shot, and offer more opportunities to fix mistakes and insert footage on…

Google Now has finally arrived on the desktop. Google today announced Google Now is being pushed to the Chrome stable channel for Windows and Mac “starting today and rolling out over the next few weeks.” This means Google Now notifications will finally be available to desktop and laptop Chrome users, in addition to Android and iOS users. To turn the feature on, all you need to do is sign in to Chrome with the same Google Account you’re using for Google Now on mobile. If you use Google Now on multiple devices, you will need to manage your location settings…

Yahoo Screen arrives on Roku, lets you watch SNL clips, news, music and Yahoo originals on your TV

Yahoo Screen is now available as a Roku channel, following its roll-out on Apple TV and iOS last year. As with its other incarnations, Yahoo Screen is designed to give people easy access to shows such as Saturday Night Live, The Colbert Report and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, as well as live news, music and Yahoo’s original TV shows. Roku is one of the most popular set-top boxes for streaming content over the Web, so it’s somewhat logical that Yahoo has targeted its hardware after Apple’s ecosystem. It’s available on Roku 1, 2 and 3 boxes starting today…

World Leaders Gather For Nuclear Security Summit 2014
Question-and-answer service Quora has begun rolling out verified profiles for public figures, with President Barack Obama signing up as the first user to receive a blue checkmark. Obama has taken to Quora to answer questions about the Affordable Care Act ahead of the March 31 enrollment deadline. On-boarding the president of the US has become something of a milestone for social services. Reddit, for instance, reached a turning point in 2012 when Obama participated in an AMA on the site. Alex Wu, Quora’s Head of Product Marketing and Partnerships, told TNW that Obama’s participation is a “great signal of [Quora’s] growth…

iTunes Radio is no longer a streaming service strictly for music. National Public Radio (NPR) today announced that it’s jumping on board as the app’s first news provider, delivering a non-stop steady stream of headlines and in-depth reporting. Starting today, the new station will offer national newscasts and select stories from across its culture and news-based programming, such as Morning Edition and All Things Considered. The broadcaster is also planning exclusive NPR member streams and seamless integration with listeners’ local stations. News is an unexpected twist for iTunes Radio. The service, restricted to the Music app in iOS 7, offers…
