"Assad, Gaddafi and Sallah are rebuking the lesson learned by Ben-Ali, Mubarak and Gbagbo. And that lesson is, you can't crush your own people and at the same time be a puppet of the U.S., but you can crush your people if you play along with Obama's half-baked foreign policy." ~ Yasha Harari

Japanese messaging app Line is going strong — it revealed today that it has now passed 400 million registered users. This means it has tacked on 100 million users in about five months, given that its total number of registered users exceeded 300 million in November last year. Line notes that growing user numbers in countries such as North America and Europe have contributed to the “already large” user base in Spain and Southeast Asia among other territories. It also says that the number of new users signing up daily has reached “around 1.7 million per day, indicating rapid growth worldwide.”…

SPAIN-TELECOM-MOBILE-WORLD-CONGRESS
Samsung took the wraps off its Smart Home service at CES in January this year, and today it is rolling out the service in Korea and the US. More countries will be added throughout the year. Samsung Smart Home ties together smart TVs and home appliances to a smartphone so you can control devices simultaneously via an app. For example, a user can say “good night” to the TV remote control, and other connected devices within the home such as the Smart Bulb and air-conditioners could be set up to automatically switch off.  The app also allows you to check the status…

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos addresses a press
It’s less than 24 hours before Amazon holds an event about its “video business” in New York. While rumors of a free video streaming service have recently surfaced, most expect the thrust of the announcement to be centered on a TV set-top box. It’s a brave new world for Amazon. The company has developed a wide range of services for consuming content, but so far its hardware efforts have been limited to e-readers and tablets. Set-top boxes and tiny streaming dongles are an entirely new realm for CEO Jeff Bezos and his massive e-commerce empire. But how does Amazon compete?…

Bitcoin wallet firm Coinbase has responded to a challenge from a security researcher by calling a feature, which allows for the possible phishing of email addresses and names, intended, rather than a vulnerability. The company has also denied that any data breach took place after a list of apparent Coinbase emails and usernames showed up online. Researcher Shubham Shah published details of a Coinbase security risk on Monday after becoming frustrated with the company’s lack of communication about the issue. Shah discovered that he could send a series of emails requesting money from different address and receive back a response…
