"Mother's Day is a very complex holiday. It starts with a simple premise: Let your Mother know you love her. After that, she'll argue with you all day, telling you how you don't love her, just so that you have to apologize and show her how much you love her, despite being yelled at all day." ~ Yasha Harari

At its Build 2014 conference today, Microsoft announced it will soon release Windows for the Internet of Things priced at $0. Furthermore, the company is now making Windows for phones and tablets less than 9 inches in size available for free. The decision is undoubtedly aimed at ensuring Windows continues to dominate in market share. The Internet of Things, for those who don’t know, refers to the phenomenon of everyday objects are increasingly coming online. At its Build 2014 conference today, Microsoft announced plans to bring its just-announced universal Windows apps to the Xbox. This means developers will not only be able to build cross-platform Windows apps for PCs, phones, and tablets, but also for the company’s flagship console. Microsoft also plans to let these apps run in a window on Windows 8.1 for the desktop. This is clearly yet another move to appease mouse-and-keyboard users. Terry Myerson, Microsoft’s EVP of Operating Systems Group, revealed that the Xbox is actively used in 80 million televisions in living rooms around the world, and that the typical…

Boxes be gone, Twitter.com now supports emoji characters

Sometimes it’s the small things in life that make a difference. Along those lines, Twitter has begun showing emoji characters — the small, cartoon-like figures most often used when typing on a mobile device — on its main Twitter.com website. It appears that emojis aren’t supported in tweets that are embedded on websites. Could this mean that Twitter one day offers stickers like every…
