Smartwatch makers have yet to find the sweet spot for replicating your phone’s functionality while also creating new uses. Musician and tech investor will.i.am is taking a different approach by ditching the smartphone entirely with a watch that’s capable of making its own calls. Will.i.am unveiled the project on the Alan Carr: Chatty Man show on Friday, though some viewers of The Voice UK had spotted him wearing the device on the show recently. China’s Weibo sets IPO range at $17-19 with valuation of over $3.5 billion

Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, has released a pricing range for its upcoming IPO that would peg shares between $17-19, valuing the company between $3.5-$3.9 billion, The New York Times reports. Weibo, which was spun off from Sina, is looking to sell 20 million shares in the offering, potentially raising as much as $380 million. The firm also has a separate agreement with Alibaba that will see Sina sell additional shares to the ecommerce leader. In its filing, Weibo notes that it will use $250 million of the raised money to pay off loans from Sina and repurchase shares…

Mere days after Amazon launched its Fire TV media streaming set-top box, the retailer is back with another device, this time to draw people into its AmazonFresh grocery service. Called Amazon Dash, it’s essentially a Wi-Fi and voice-enabled barcode scanner. So as your cupboards begin to look a little bare, the idea is that you pick it up and start scanning all the tins, boxes and bottles that you need restocked. Here’s a little something for your Friday afternoon/evening: A Twitch stream of a robot playing the addicting mobile game Threes set to a Boards of Canada soundtrack. If it wasn’t for those nettlesome deadlines, I could watch this all day. Walt Destler created the AI code, and developer Matthew Wegner created the robot while procrastinating work on Team Colorblind’s upcoming Aztez game.
