Bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox loses bid to reorganize as Japanese court investigates CEO liability

A Japanese court has struck down Mt. Gox’s efforts to reorganize its Bitcoin exchange after filing for bankruptcy, USA Today reports. A court administrator will handle Mt. Gox’s assets, which are likely to be liquidated to pay back creditors. Mt. Gox went offline in late February just days before it filed for bankruptcy protection. The exchange at one time served as the largest for the Bitcoin community, but the company claims a bug in its system resulted in a loss of several hundred thousand Bitcoins, which equates to hundreds of millions of US dollars. Developers excited to build Project Ara’s smartphone modules

The Project Ara developers conference is Google’s smartphone-experiment show and tell. The search-giant turned hardware-vendor may want to get its new modular smartphone in the hands of the entire world, but it needs to get developers to build the tiny hardware plugins. Google told The Next Web that there were over 300 attendees and approximately 3,000 concurrent live stream viewers during the opening day of the conference – good start for something that won’t actually ship until sometime in 2015.
