Prosecutors seeking a harsher sentence for a group of Bitcoin scammers have seen their hopes slashed after a court rejected their claim. As previously reported by Hard Fork, the group of men scammed Chinese businessmen out of approximately $250,000 in an online Bitcoin scam. WhatsApp, the messaging app used by more than 1.5 billion worldwide, says it’s patched a critical security vulnerability which allowed attackers to secretly infect phones with malicious spyware by just calling phone numbers over an in-app audio call.
