Opera has released the latest version of its desktop browser for Windows and Mac machines today, promising that its new ‘Aura’ hardware acceleration provides “smoother, snappier animations with a more responsive feel”. The company’s new Aura technology isn’t actually present in the Mac build of Opera 21, but the same effects are achieved using Apple’s core animation features. As well as making the whole thing feel a bit quicker and smoother, Opera 21 also gives users the option of displaying the full URL in the address field, rather than a truncated version showing the domain and a badge indicating site security. Opera…

Finnish game publisher Rovio, best known for its Angry Birds series of games, has launched a new side-scrolling title for iPhone and iPad called Retry on the App Store. According to Arctic Startup, the game is a product of Rovio’s new Level11 development team and takes inspiration from the popularity of titles like Flappy Bird, which seem to have caused a resurgence in similar 8-bit mobile games. While there are a number of location-sharing services out there such as Glympse, Routeshare has just entered the fray with its own take on the concept. How it works Routeshare for iPhone is more specifically about sharing with another person where you are and how long it will take you to arrive at…

dropbox
Dropbox has made a change to its feature that lets users share links to their documents, after it revealed a vulnerability that could give third-parties access to data on its severs. A company post disclosed a weakness with referer headers that could expose information in the following scenario: A Dropbox user shares a link to a document that contains a hyperlink to a third-party website. The user, or an authorized recipient of the link, clicks on a hyperlink in the document. At that point, the referer header discloses the original shared link to the third-party website. Someone with access to that header, such…
