Spotify now has 10 million paying subscribers and 40 million active users

Spotify announced today that its music streaming service has hit a new milestone of 10 million paying subscribers and 40 million active users in 56 countries across the world, since its launch six years ago in 2008. The company says users have created more than 1.5 billion playlists since then, and currently create or update over 5 million daily playlists combined. As part of today’s announcement, Spotify revealed that Eminem is the most streamed artist of all time, wile Rihanna is the most female artist. ‘Wake Me Up’ by Avicii is the most popular song, having already racked up 235 million…

Sony is rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat to the Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z

Sony is bringing Android version 4.4 KitKat to a number of its devices, including the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z. The long-awaited firmware update will begin rolling out today in selected markets as part of the company’s “Sony User Experience” upgrade, which includes updated versions of its exclusive apps. Ringo challenges Skype with a calling app that doesn’t need Internet and is cheaper too

What’s notable is that the app doesn’t need Internet connection for you to make calls.
