At WWDC today, Apple announced HealthKit for iOS 8, which will collect data from 3rd party apps and store it in a central repository and Health, which gives you access to that data. HealthKit is a new, central repository where third party apps can store data for quick access and easy reading in one central place, using the Health app. Apple didn’t detail too much, but noted it was working with Nike to integrate its apps with the platform. Apple revamps its iOS keyboard with contextual ‘QuickType’ predictive texting

Apple is revamping the stock keyboard for iOS devices. The company today unveiled QuickType, which supports predictive typing suggestions. As you type, you’ll get suggestions for what you might want to type next, which adapts based on what’s been said and who you’re messaging. As you type, you’ll now see some suggestions just above the keyboard. These will be selected, at least in part, by what’s already been said in the conversation. For instance, if your friend asks whether you would like to have dinner or see a movie, the first three suggestions are “not sure,” “a movie” and “dinner.”…

At Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) today, the company announced iOS 8, the next version of its mobile operating system. With iOS 8, you’ll now be able to interact directly with notifications from banner alerts and the lock screen. For instance, you can swipe down on a text message banner notification in order to reply directly without switching to the Messages app. Mobile Safari now has the same tab view and a sidebar as Safari on OS X. Apple unveils iCloud Drive, a new way to store and access all of your files

Apple today unveiled a new cloud-based storage system called iCloud Drive. It works in conjunction with iCloud, but gives users greater depth, control and flexibility over the files they store online. iCloud Drive has a user interface similar to Dropbox and other established file storage services. Users can sort and organize their files as needed – each app gets its own designated folder and users can create new ones as necessary.
