Sony announced a new smartphone today, the Xperia T3, which it touts as the world’s slimmest 5.3-inch smartphone. The Xperia T3, which weighs 148g, is built with a stainless steel frame and comes in three colors — white, black and purple. Other than making sure the design of the super-slim phone feels more sturdy and durable, the steel used in the frame also doubles up as an antenna. The back cover, meanwhile, is designed with matte material.   The Xperia T3 also features a high-resolution 5.3 inch HD TriLuminos display, which Sony says offers “redder reds and bluer blues.” It…

HTC’s new One E8 is a plastic, dual-SIM version of its flagship One M8 smartphone

HTC has announced a new variant of the HTC One M8: the plastic-clad HTC One E8. The device recalls its big brother but is manufactured with a polycarbonate unibody frame, rather than the metal shell of the M8. The E8 comes with many features of the M8, including a five-inch display and 13-megapixel camera, as well as Motion Launch shortcuts and BoomSound audio. Available in four colors — Polar White, Electric Crimson, Maldives Blue, and Misty Gray — it also includes dual-SIM support, a “Selfie Perfection” countdown timer for the front-facing camera and a more curved design. Japanese gaming giant DeNA is launching its own genetic testing service

Tech giants are increasingly stepping up efforts in the science industry. After Google formed a company last year that focuses on tackling aging and other associated diseases, Sony upped its commitment to breakthrough medicine by announcing a joint venture focused on advancing medical research using genetics in Japan. Now Japanese gaming giant DeNA has announced the formation of DeNA Life Science, a wholly-owned subsidiary focused on healthcare services. It will premiere a project known as Mycode, a genetic testing service available first for consumers in Japan. The service is scheduled to launch in late July. More details including pricing will be revealed “soon,” the company says….
